Our Covered Call Stock Program is a workhorse system to generate cash flow. We write calls (called options) for our clients on stock they hold

which produces cash flow each month and turns traditional stock holdings into "rental stocks" for income.

To add safety to this program we do the transactions "in-the-money". Writing in-the-money calls takes away the downside loss potential, not completely, but almost completely. Here's how it works. When we write a call for you, you receive a premium which in placed in your account in one day. You agree to sell the stock at a set price. You have to keep the stock (and remain covered) until one of the following occurs. 1. the expiration date is reached and you are either called out (the stock is bought away from you) or not called out (you keep the stock). 2. You get called out early-before the expiration date. This is good, although it happens infrequently, as you would accelerate your profits to that point. 3. You end the position by buying back the call-hopefully at less than what you sold it for, so you get a net profit on just the option play.

Here's an Example:
Let's say you own General Motors at $58. You purchased it for $40 and you own 300 shares.The 60$ calls for next month are going for $3. That's $3 times 300 shares or $900, or $1 for the higher strike price of $65, or $300. Which one do you sell? The question is do you want to get called out or not. If you think the stock might go up above $60 and you want to get called out then sell the $60 calls. If you don't want to lose the stock sell the $65 call. It's likely that the stock will go above $65 eventually-but not by the next expiration date which is always the third Friday of the next month. It's up to you. One way to generate more cash is selling the $60 calls, but there is a higher potential of getting called out. The other way of selling the $65 calls produces less cash, but you'll sell your stock at a higher price.
